Dr. Elyse Bruns is originally from northern WI and received her Doctor of Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She graduated from optometry school with high distinction and was selected to be a member of Beta Kappa Sigma - International Optometric Honor Society. She has a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin Madison. She practiced in Ann Arbor and Flint, MI before moving “back home” in 2019.
In Michigan, Dr. Bruns received extensive training in ocular disease management, completing clinical rotations at multidisciplinary clinics that emphasized retina, glaucoma, and pediatric care. She also completed a rotation at the Saginaw VA Hospital. Her special interests are in the treatment and management of ocular disease, myopia control, and specialty contact lenses. She also enjoys teaching and spends some of her professional time lecturing to various medical and optometric groups.
Dr. Bruns is a member of the Wisconsin Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, National Glaucoma Society, and the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Bruns enjoys spending time outdoors, skiing, volleyball, and tries to play golf. She also loves spending time with her family: husband (Nick), son (Emmett), and yellow labrador (Oakley).
